Melanie Smollen, President

Melanie is a speaker and church hospitality consultant who has worked with over 1,500 churches of every size helping them create welcoming first impressions and connect with the very people they are trying to reach.

She founded Faith Perceptions and the Mystery Guest Program (like mystery shopping, but for churches) back in 2008 and has sent over 10,000 unchurched mystery guests into churches to learn from their experiences and help churches see themselves through the eyes of a guest.

Her passion for seeing the church grow and reach people has led her to share her research and develop best practices for church hospitality. She has been interviewed and spoken at numerous events across the nation on the work of Faith Perceptions and mystery guest experiences are featured in several Christian publications, blogs, and articles.

She also leverages 10 years of experience in market research and hospitality consulting to oversee the market research projects for Hendrickson Business Advisors (our parent company that works with businesses).

Melanie is a native of Traverse City, Michigan and now lives in Cape Girardeau, Missouri with her husband, Paul, who is in full-time ministry. They are parents to four amazing kids, a dog, and a cat. Away from the office, you can find her enjoying the simple things in life like quiet time with a cup of coffee, eating good food (southern style), and cooking up a big meal for her family and friends.
